DIVING DEEP W/ SPACE WIZARD

  1. What has been one of the most memorable career achievements so far as an artist and how did that impact you moving forward?

Achieving my own sound as weird as that sounds. once i learned how to truly make the music that i wanted to make, it really opened a lot of doors for me creatively. i was able to take things that i think make up the “space wizard sound” and replicate those in to any genre.

  1. If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approach would have done differently?

probably to explore making music i wanted to make earlier. i think a lot of my mind was dead set on if i open ableton, i have to make something i can release/play at a show and that can be a toxic mindset. your hobby becomes a true job at that point and you can lose sight of why you made the music in the first place. i think once i started to just make random beats and ambient stuff again i started to get more comfortable writing bangers again.

  1. What’s one artist you’re grateful for that has inspired you to be where you are today and why?

One artist? This is a loaded question haha, there are so many musicians and artists out there who have inspired me and this is tricky to answer. That said, Ternion Sound come to mind. In addition to the fresh excitement they’ve injected into the 140/UK Dubstep scene (go check them out if you don’t know), they were also the first major artist to play out any of my music live, while I was in attendance. Eternally grateful to those lads.

  1. What would you tell your younger self today knowing where you’re at now and what it took to get there?

So I started listening to electronic music back in 2006, when I was introduced to Pendulum’s Hold Your Colour album. Back then, the head of music at my high school dissuaded me from trying to make electronic music myself, as he saw it as a lesser art form. If I could go back, I would tell my younger self to trust his instincts more, and make the music that makes you happy! If only I’d started 15 years ago…

Xotix Hits Hard w/ New Single via BEST COAST EP

Xotix Hits Hard w/ New Single via BEST COAST EP

Back and better than ever is one of our favorite heavy hitting freeform duo Xotix, coming out swinging today with the release of their latest single off their new EP “Best Coast”. This 4 track heater features the classic uptempo sound we love from these producers melded into some new fresh tracks that you don’t want to miss. Each of these tracks packs a punch, flowing perfectly into the next to create an insane high tempo compilation. The title track off this EP, which we have the pleasure of premiering for you all today, hits hard with some incredible up tempo drops, crunchy basslines and wonky synths that will have any basshead up on their feet and raging. The rest of the 4 track project will be released in it’s entirety on the 21st, for the mean time we are being blessed with this lead single. Now it’s time to take a deeper dive into why we are calling the “Best Coast”, a certified bop.

“‘Best Coast’ originally started as a VIP for our song ‘West Coast’ which came out 2 years ago. The only thing we really left was the arpeggio in the beginning. Once we got the drops going we knew it needed to be it’s own tune, and we ended up liking it so much that we named the whole ep after it. “

  1. If there was one thing you could change in the bass scene, what would it be and why?

There are a ton of super talented underground acts and it would be cool to see them have more visibility and move up on lineups.

  1. Is there a message you would like to portray through your music, and if so, what would it be?

Have fun and dance your ass off!

DETØX Takes Charge w/ New Track “Night Sky”

DETØX Takes Charge w/ New Track “Night Sky”

In the ever changing world of electronic music, finding a voice through music can be a challenging task to face, but one artist has been breaking out by using his sound to create his own message. New York producer, DETØX, has combined the heavy with the melodic to bring forth his latest track “Night Sky” that we have the pleasure of premiering for you all today. This track not only is the pinnacle of this project’s empowering message, but pushes this thought even further with the idea of “letting your colors shine through the darkness”. This is definitely not one you want to sleep on because the uplifting sounds alone will have you playing this tune over and over again. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Night Sky”, a certified bop.

“Night Sky is about letting all your colors shine bright in the darkness. About taking in this moment and being free to be you. Being the light that you are and giving people the right to simply be.”

  1. What has been one of the most memorable career achievements so far as an artist and how did that impact you moving forward?

I would have to say having my debut ep hit #1 on the dubstep beatport charts. It gave me confidence and set me off into the industry. At this point in my career, after covid really hitting hard at home, it helped me to keep going and to believe in myself.

  1. Is there a message you would like to portray through your music, and if so, what would it be?

The main message I try to push through DETØX is that no matter who or where you are in life, no matter how dirty you get… you can always clean up. I blend the heavy and uplifting styles of bass music so you get the best of both worlds and can make a choice to who you are and want to be. I try to empower people to believe in themselves and try to help people see and feel beyond the physical into the spiritual. To help find and create peace here in this life together so everyone feels welcome and at home in their bodies and their lives.

Ren Zukii Makes Highly Anticipated WAKAAN Debut w/ New Monarch EP

Ren Zukii Makes Highly Anticipated WAKAAN Debut w/ New Monarch EP

WAKAAN seems to have a never ending supply of absolutely incredible talent flowing through their label on a daily basis. Bringing forth her highly anticipated debut to this incredible collection of artists is none other than Australian producer, Ren Zukii. Fresh to the scene, she has already left her mark and continues to do so with the release of her EP, Monarch. This 4 track compilation spans many interchangeable genres, focusing on bold basslines, and some killer drum and bass segments heard throughout. “Deadmen”, our premiere track today, incorporates both these heavy basslines and flowing synths with the perfect bouncy tune that you don’t want to miss. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Deadmen” and the rest of the Monarch EP, a certified bop.

“The ‘Monarch’ EP is a culmination of 6 years of my journey in music. I realized I could never really just write one style of music so I set off to combine everything I love about the experimental bass music scene. A lot of the inspiration for this EP came from listening to a lot of Metal and watching Quentin Tarantino movies. It’s chaotic, emotional and visceral and is the first of many to come.”

  1. If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approach would have done differently?

If I could start over, I would have created a solid routine for myself earlier on and stuck to it, for example, maintaining a social and work life, while giving myself enough time to sit down and make tunes.

  1. What’s one cool fact about yourself/or your project that not many fans know about?

I am a twin, I am the youngest of 7 children. I spent most of my teen years in Indonesia, surfing and teaching English. Before music I was going to dedicate my life to becoming a Neuroscientist.
