Today is a good day for all my fellow friends and family who eat, sleep, and live listening to bass music on the daily. We have a new player in the game, Maluka, a bass music producer and DJ from Westchester, New York. “Snuff Box” makes its introductory debut release as the first project from Maluka. An individual who has now set his mind and focus on becoming one of the best, today we get a taste of what’s to come, and boy is it big. This track ushers in users towards an otherworldly auditory journey through space and time for a total of almost seven minutes. The more you listen to it, the more you start to appreciate the effort it took to formulate such a unique composition of electronic music. Now its time to take a deeper dive as to what makes this song what we like to call, a certified bop.

“I’m Maluka. I make Weird, Psychedelic-ish, Norwegian Metal Inspired, Left Field Festival Bass, EDM Music for Goth Wooks. That’s a genre now. You gotta say the whole thing. It’s kinda like IDM but less pretentious with more headbanger friendly moments.”  

Florida is being put on the map once again, and it’s all thanks to an individual who goes by the stage name of RAAKET. If you’ve been riding that Tape-B, Mersiv or Meduso train lately, you’re going to have to make room for one more on that list. Raaket has been on the fast rise lately within the dubstep scene and for good reason too. He is him and it’s that simple. From back-to-back heat releases to multiple festival appearances, it’s no secret that people can’t get enough of the young prodigy. Today is no different as we present you with a sneak peak off his latest project, a single from his forthcoming 4-track EP titled “Sound Revival”. Now it’s time to take a deeper dive as to what makes “Bogle” what we like to call, a certified bop.

“Bogle is one of those feel good tunes that hits the sweet spot for the reggae dub fans. The  entire Sound Revival EP is a blend of high energy bangers that show off Raaket’s old school  sound design with a fresh new style on experimental bass music.”

Who are some artists that you lookup to within the dubstep scene,  andhow have they inspired you to divedeep within the genre?

I really look  up to some bigger artists like Jantsen, Mersiv, Smoakland, and Conrank. I  think all of their sounds and styles are that high energy bass music that  really encompass what I’m going for in my project. Their songs always  inspire me to keep pushing the boundaries of my sound design  capabilities and to create more unique songs. I’m also inspired by artist on  the come up like Meduso, Feelmonger, and Cool Customer as well. These  guys are all creating some very awesome projects that inspire me to add  new techniques to my style too. 

You often release and feature on guest mixes, any future sessions that listeners can look forward to hearing?

You can count on the next Volume of “What’s With All That Raaket”  coming early next year, but at the moment there’s no other guest mixes coming  soon. This most recent one with Heard It Here First will have to hold it down for  the next few months!

What influenced the track title, “Bogle”, and what significance does it have to you?

I wanted to make a reggae inspired dubstep song for the new EP.  Once this reggae project started to come together, I discovered this “Bogle”  acapella that was really fun and groovy, and it seemed to be the perfect match  for the song. I have to admit, I had no idea what that word even meant haha.  After a little research, I learned that Bogle is a popular dance that came about  during the 80s in reggae dancehall from an artist named Gerald Levy, aka Mr.  Bogle. It’s a fun dance of rocking your arms up and down while swinging you  hips and bending your knees. Rihanna displayed this dance is her music video  of “Rude Boy.” The vocal really completes the songs and gives it a great energy  that makes the song special, which inclined me to release it as a single off the  EP. It was really fun making this project and I discovered some new sounds  while making it that expanded Raaket sound and style.

What’s next for this project? How do you hope to grow as an artist in the future?

I feel like I’ve expanded my discography enough on my personal  account, so now I’m looking to secure more label releases, collabing with other  artists that are on the come up like me, and remixing songs from big artist I  admire in the dubstep realm. I have an exciting remix for a HUGE artist that will  be announced in the near future and will be a massive milestone for me, but for  now I can’t give more details beyond that. I really hope to keep the momentum I  have growing with more festival bookings and headliner shows across the country, and I’ve got my fingers crossed to be included on more tours for big  artists in the future. This past year has been an incredible journey and I feel like  all my hard work is beginning to be recognized and respected by my peers in  the industry. But I’m still just getting started and have a long road ahead of me.  I’m grateful for all the support I have from Lows Only, Wubaholics, and my friend  group here in South Florida.
