“I’ve been a huge fan of Fytch for over a decade. I can still remember being 14 years old, completely blown away by his song “In These Shadows”. His musical skills and the way he crafts his harmonies in songs really stuck with me and inspired me. I followed his music for years until we eventually became friends. I wasted no time telling him how much I’d love to collaborate, but I never had a song that felt worthy of sending him until one magical day. It was 4 am, and I found myself alone in the studio with no distractions—no phone, no music, no lights. Out of nowhere, I started humming the guitar melody and then the lead in the drop. I quickly recorded a voice note of it and by 6 am, I had most of the idea figured out. I even named the demo “6am”. From the moment I started working on it, I knew Fytch was the perfect match. It had that emotional depth I knew he could take to the next level. So, I sent him the demo without hesitation. He liked it, but due to some other commitments, he couldn’t work on it for almost a year. Since the album is all about my roots, musical influences, and inspirations, it just felt right to have Fytch involved.” |
Diving Deep w/ Whales
- Collaborating with an Israeli counterpart must hold a special place in your heart, is there a message your wish to portray to those outside the country by teaming up w/ CURE97 on this single?
I think everybody is so busy trying to make it big worldwide, across the ocean, while some of us are coming from small countries full of soul and talented people, like CURE97. I had already met CURE97 10 years ago in an Israeli music forum before I even started my own project. It’s funny how a decade later, we reconnected and started making some cool tunes together. CURE97’s sound is too unique to ignore, and I’m thrilled to be one of the first established artists to collaborate with him. Even more importantly, I’m happy to call him a friend and witness his growth as both an artist and a human. It feels like family working with a talented homie from my own country.
- With your health improving significantly, were there any moments prior to that held you back mentally/physically while pursuing a music career? If so, what helped you personally overcome such obstacles?
Well, there were a lot of them, and they still exist today. I can’t ignore the fact that I’m different. My tics and Tourette’s might bother someone during a flight or in certain situations. I also come from a different culture and life situation than most DJs in the industry.
But the beautiful thing about this scene is that anyone from any background can find their place and be themselves. I’m thankful to be accepted, even if I’m sometimes misunderstood. Being part of this scene makes me so happy, and I learn something new every day. It truly feels like home to me.
Despite the challenges, the love for music and my passion to create something unique keep me going. I hope to inspire others who feel different or face obstacles in pursuing their passion. This community embraces diversity, understanding, and empathy, and I want it to keep growing and welcoming all artists.
I’m committed to contributing to this scene and making it a place where everyone feels they belong, where their art is celebrated, and their voices are heard. Music can bridge gaps, break barriers, and celebrate individuality.
