Mr. Bill and kLL sMTH Debut Official kLL Bill EP & Tour

Two of the freeform bass scene’s heaviest hitters,  kll sMTH and Mr. Bill , have joined forces to officialize their new and nasty collaboration “kll Bill” which already has been gaining momentum very quickly in the past weeks. Today, we get to help bring forth their self titled EP, which we all got a little taste of a week ago with their preview minimix. Our premiere today “Uncle Punch” is the first, absolutely electric tune off this 4 track compilation that definitely sets the tone for this entire EP. This track combines some ridiculous baselines and electric drops to create an incredible uptempo soundscape for this heater of a bass track. This whole collab will definitely be on repeat for us for the weeks to come! Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Uncle Punch” and the rest of the kll Bill EP, a certified bop.

“I made an ep with kris. it is cool. we are doing some shows in the united states. come & see us do those. and listen to the ep on spotify please. thank you ” -Mr.Bill

  1. If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approach would have done differently?

I would’ve finished high school math, gone to college for computer science & become a programmer

  1. What has been one great experience you’ve enjoyed being an artist so far and why?

Playing red rocks was pretty cool! not really sure why, to be honest.

  1. What has been one great experience you’ve enjoyed being an artist so far and why?

Every single time a fan comes up to me at a show I am just attending and tells me how much they love my music and how they have been listening to my music for a while and the effect my music has had on their life. Makes me truly happy whenever that happens.

  1. What has been the biggest difference you’ve noticed when first starting off as an artist vs now after experience playing events , doing releases etc?

When I was a newer artist, I was definitely much more nervous sending music to labels as well as playing in front of large crowds of people. The longer I do this, the more I have learned to just go with the flow and enjoy the ride along the way.

Re: Set Makes Waves w/ New Track “Aesthetics” via “Beyond Perspectives” EP

Berlin based producer and teacher , Francesco Luigi Lenci, better known to many as Re: Set, has stepped into the light of the electronic scene both overseas and now in the USA. His forthcoming EP, “Beyond Perspectives” that we have for you today does exactly as the title suggests, goes beyond the perspectives of bass music. Combining deep beats and complex textures, our premiere today off this EP “Aesthetics” creates a tranquil vibe while also being interesting to the ear with its unique glitch hop sound. This track as well as the entire collection is the perfect pairing of wubs and melodic instrumentals that you absolutely don’t want to miss. Let’s take a closer look at why we are calling “Aesthetics”, a certified bop.

“Music has the power to lift the soul, evoke images and emotions, so Beyond Perspectives is for me deeply rooted in these essential elements.”

If there was an artist you had the chance to collaborate with, who would it be and why?

My biggest honor would be to collaborate with sir. Amon Tobin. Do I even need to say why? To me, he is one of the biggest pioneers and innovators in electronic music to date today and he would certainly have a lot to teach/inspire me.

If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approach would you have done differently?

Nice question! I would have probably spent more time learning music theory and less time learning crazy sound design techniques (which are still important to me). I would have also started to invest earlier in external analog gears. I just stepped into this world very recently and I wonder why I didn’t do it 15 years ago.

MLOTIK & ZLEN Join Forces for “Calypso” via Ghost Room EP

MLOTIK & ZLEN Join Forces for “Calypso” via Ghost Room EP

Incredible experimental bass duo, Mlotik are back at it again, this time joining forces with producer Zlen to bring forth their new collaborative EP “Ghost Room”. As an absolute journey for the ears, this two part collection of tracks showcase the combination of these talented artists’ sounds, guiding us on an expansive auditory trip that brings us familiar and new, exciting soundscapes. Our premiere today off this amazing EP, “Calypso”, transports you directly to the ocean side with beautifully constructed textures and deep bass melodies. This track as well as the others on this first release are a do not miss for our downtempo enthusiasts! Let’s take a deeper dive into why we think ‘Calypso’ and the rest of the “Ghost Room” EP are what we like to call, a certified bop.

” Calypso was the first song to come to fruition in the Ghost Room chapter. The melody was written in an iphone app called Oval Synth, which resembles a pan drum where you can play with unique scales. The composition developed a curious, lighthearted energy which intrigued us. This song also helped solidify the creative dynamic that each of us bring to the table and guide the vision for the rest of the project.”

  1. What was the inspiration that helped push you into wanting to pursue a career in music?

A: “The three of us had individual journeys regarding the decision of pursuing our passion. While somewhat different, they are largely the same.

Initially, what drew us in was our interest and curiosity for music of all types. With electronic music specifically, the community played a large role in our lives early on. Being apart of something that was evolving and bigger than ourselves. Being surrounded by positivity. The blend of envelope pushing music and production resulting in unique, impactful experiences. Transitioning from dj’ing into producing, we fell in love with the process. Having something to focus on and get better at everyday gave us a sense of clarity we had previously been lacking”

  1. If there was one thing you could change for the betterment of society, what would it be and why?

A: “Boiling it down to just one thing proved to be quite difficult. Evolving out of a monetary market economy seems paramount. Potential solutions include transitioning into a resource based economy, which could alleviate inflation, and in turn, the deliberate withholding of social efficiency. Some benefits could include paid mental health days for workers and government provided therapy for all. Decreasing financial stress could lead to less crime and happier individuals.”

This track is definitely going to be one we are all going to keep coming back to time and time again. Let’s take a closer look as to why we are calling this stomper, a certified bop.

Tylr – “I remember when Z-Dougie first listened to the original idea of Deeper, and we both knew we needed to create this together. From there we spent months fine tuning and working really hard on this one and I’m super excited to have finally given it a home on Wavecraft. We hope you enjoy the tune as much as we do!”

  1. What has been the biggest difference you’ve noticed when first starting off as an artist vs now after experience playing events , doing releases etc?

“The biggest difference for me was really understanding the sound and what it does for people. It didn’t take me until my first few shows last year to fully see how people were receiving my music, and that was huge for me. Whenever I am working on new tracks now, I am always taking that into account.”

  1. In a perfect world, where do you see yourself in 2 years from now and why?

“In 2 years, I hopefully see myself being able to make and play music full-time and to fully sustain myself from it. It’s been a dream of mine ever since I started to be able to fully commit myself to my ultimate passion. Consider this a manifestation!”

Z-Dougie:

  1. What has been the biggest difference you’ve noticed when first starting off as an artist vs now after experience playing events , doing releases etc?

“I don’t need anyone’s approval to feel confident anymore. I used to need outside opinions to make a final decision, but now I know what my art is supposed to be. If someone doesn’t like it then it’s just not for them, and that’s okay. It’s a way easier mindset to continue moving down my own path instead of getting stuck trying to figure out how to make others happy with my art.”

  1. In a perfect world, where do you see yourself in 2 years from now and why?

Touring as a bass act and making Hip-Hop records. Z-Dougie is heavily inspired by Hip-Hop and I love making beats. The idea is to make rap hits and have the rights/files to them so I can make all the remixes and edits I like for my Z-Dougie sets.

  1. Is there a message you would like to portray through your music, and if so, what would it be?

That music has the power to connect and shape culture, and with that I try to use positive messaging within my music.

  1. What are the inspirations that helped push you into wanting to pursue a career in music ?

From a young age, music has affected me so deeply, from going to punk shows at 16 in NYC to remembering hearing Pink Floyd  for the first time. To this day, every time I hear a new piece of music that touches me, it’s like a world of color erupts in my head.  My natural hunger for music drove me to seek new sounds. At first it bought me to the music of the UK where I fell in love with the early vibes of sound culture and labels like DMZ and others. It lead me to open up one of the first distribution companies to import this hard to get music. From there we wound up running Fuel Records USA which helped bring artist like Tipper to America. For me music is always about pushing myself to explore and be open to new sounds.
