CHOMPPA Gives His Own Spin To “Nightmare Sonata” by Josh Teed & DAGGZ via Gravitas Music

Josh Teed, the highly respected artist known for his masterful blending of classical and electronic music has once again cemented his position in the scene. Previously touring with artists like Clozee on her Microdose tour, Teed has been nothing short but an inspiring contribution to the scene. Utilizing his over 20 years of violin training, Teed is known for pairing soulful violin compositions with enchanting production, setting him apart from other producers and showcasing his wide range of musical talent. His latest release, a remix album featuring tracks from his recent body of work titled “Recurring Dreams”, is an expertly curated work of art centered around the dreamworld and its relation and contrast to reality. Each track plays into different aspects of the dream realm and the subconscious, touching on both the desired and the uninvited.

“Nightmare Sonata”, a collaboration from the album between Teed and producer Daggz, is a spin on a classic piece that forces the listener to delve into the less appealing aspects of dreaming; evoking an eerie and ominous feeling. The remix, featuring production from bass artist Chomppa, features his signature heavy-hitting bass sound that brings a slightly more sinister twist to the piece. Chomppa’s addition of a vocal sample that can only be described as anxiety inducing (in the best way), adds yet another layer of complexity that is truly the cherry on top of a fantastic piece of work. Chomppa’s take on “Nightmare Sonata” is brilliant, leaving the listener to explore their perception of nightmares and their connection to a person’s psyche and physical state in the real world. His additions to the track further it in a way that masterfully compliments and enhances its qualities without overshadowing the original production and meaning. Each artist bounces off of one another in a way that showcases their own signature sound while creating a piece of work that flows seamlessly.

“Nightmare Sonata” as well as the rest of the “Recurring Dreams” album can be streamed on SoundCloud now, and we can’t wait for you guys to listen! For more insight into Chomppa’s creative process, check out our exclusive interview with him below!

“Putting his own creative spin on Josh Teed and Daggz’ Nightmare Sonata, Chomppa takes listeners to the darkest side of their dreams with this heavy hitting remix.  Recurring Dreams was my favorite body of work I’ve ever put together. I always thought if there were ever to be a remix project for it, it would have to be nothing short of amazing. Touching on a dizzying variety of sub-genres of electronic music, this compilation is as good as it gets.”

DIVING DEEP W/ CHOMPPA

  1. You’re on your deathbed and you can listen to one last song, which one would it be and why?

My last song on my deathbed would have to be CharlesTheFirst – Hopeful. Charles became one of my favorite artists over the last few years and his legacy 100% lives on through his music, this track in particular always hits me in an emotional place I can’t quite explain. The entire SOLUS project has been on constant repeat for me since its release, but Hopeful really just embodies everything I love about Charles’ music, long live the king 👑  -CHOMPPA

  1. If you could change one thing about the electronic scene, what would it be and why?

I’ve touched on this a fair amount and there’s a lot of discourse surrounding the topic right now, but I’d love to see a shift away from numbers, social media, etc. and stronger emphasis on meaningful music rather than what sells or is popular. Plenty of people have explained that marketing a show/maintaining a business in live music requires artists with solid ticket sales on the lineup, which I fully understand and support, but it feels like lately the scene is oversaturated with ghost produced projects or producers who pump out content-driven music, and they’re the ones climbing higher on the ladder than the wildly talented producers who don’t necessarily want to make repetitive TikToks. Obviously, social media is the new marketing avenue and we as artists all have to play the game to a degree, I’m just hopeful that the music comes back into focus in the near future. -CHOMPPA

  1. If you had one message you could share with the world right now, what would it be?

My message to the world would be every life is valuable and each person deserves to have their fundamental human rights protected. Minor differences in our origin, religion, sexual orientation, political ideology, or anything of that nature should not separate us but rather yield meaningful conversations about the beauty of the world’s diversity. There is nothing more important than respecting each other and the environment we inhabit together.  -CHOMPPA

DIVING DEEP W/ KTRL & GHOST LOTUS

You’re on your deathbed and you can listen to one last song, which one would it be and why?
GHOST LOTUS: Id see ghost – reborn, because it’s helped me through a ton of rough times. I tend to go back to that one when I’m going through!
KTRL: Robin S – Show Me Love, was the first electronic song I really loved when I was a youngin! My mom & I have a special connection with that tune aswell.
If you could change one thing about the electronic scene, what would it be and why?
GHOST LOTUS: Stop farming fake artists and support people with actual talent please & thank you.
KTRL: I honestly think it’s thriving at the moment. With content at the forefront, I’d love for the music to get back to the top more, but I’ve honestly been enjoying the grind of it all. There’s tons of artists pushing this scene forward & that’s all I can really ask for.
If you had one message you could share with the world right now, what would it be?
If you had one message you could share with the world right now, what would it be?
GHOST LOTUS: Never give up on something you are passionate about!
KTRL: It’s cliche, but don’t let anyone tell you that what you love & dream of doesn’t matter. From family to friends, that’s happened to me. Continue on your journey. Remember why you even do what you do in the first place, & keep loving what you do! Because that’s the root of it all.

Vastive & RZRKT Comebine Forces For New Single “Feel Alive” via BASSRUSH

When two of the scene’s fastest-rising dubstep powerhouses join together to cook, what you get is an all-around headbanging masterpiece that is about to take over the festival circuit for months to come. This mesmerizing dream collab is of course consisted of no other than Vastive and RZRKT. Today the highly respected dubstep label BASSRUSH just dropped a 10-track EP featuring some of our personal favorites including DMVU, Tsimba, ION, Bemah, and much more. We were given the honor of premiering the heavy-hitting single FEEL ALIVE , which consists of an uptempo cinematic buildup into an ear-candy body-pumping bass drop. Now it’s time to take a deeper dive as to what makes this song what we like to call, a certified bop.

“RZRKT and I had been wanting to work for quite a while now. We’ve had a few ideas in the past but when he sent me the demo for this track in particular, we knew it was the one to latch on to. Lyrically, I was inspired by where we are in life right now. This past year, we’ve been debuting all across the country. I just quit my day job earlier in March, and I know Bryan works full-time now, as well. It's about facing your fears and embracing the jump regardless of how you feel, as well as a head nod to what it took to get here. This song blends soft atmospheric textures with highly energetic drops that greatly showcases our love and power of what we do. I hope you guys can resonate with this song and help push you to the next chapter in your life.”

-VASTIVE

DIVING DEEP w/ Vastive & RZRKT

You’re on your deathbed and you can listen to one last song, which one would it be and why?
VASTIVE: This is the best question I’ve ever been asked. Official pick Beside You in Time – Nine Inch Nails. Honorable mentions would be Villa de Refugio – This Will Destroy You and Everything In its Right Place – Radiohead. I’d be happy with any of these and consider each one my “reset song”. Whether it’s a good day or a bad day, they bring me peace – and that’s what I’d hope to have on my deathbed.
RZRKT: First off, love the questions but it is so hard to answer without choosing so many. As my first pick(s) it would be Goodbye To A World or Divinity by Porter Robinson. As my runner ups it would be We Don’t Stop by Kaskade, Guide Me by Deorro, Strobe by Deadmau5, OR Insane by Flume & Moon Holiday… honestly if these were in a playlist & someone pressed shuffle to play one i’ll be completely happy with whichever plays. I listen to any of these on a weekly basis because these songs have made a huge impact in my life growing up especially during tough times. I always end up getting emotional on how far I’ve gone and they are always a reminder on why I do what I do.
If you could change one thing about the electronic scene, what would it be and why?
VASTIVE: Less fear of branching out in production. There’s a body of producers who have been doing this, but I feel like it still feels like a “gamble” for many. Not saying everybody needs to, but it’s crazy how many demos/WIPs I’ve been sent that go a different direction/genre than what one typically puts out in their project and it ends up being some of the best work I’ve heard from them. Nothing inspires me more as an artist than hearing people get out of their comfort zones and push the envelope.
RZRKT: I would definitely change the criticism or standard of “staying true to your brand.” It’s such a bother when artists can’t really experiment or evolve into something greater for themselves because they are afraid to lose their audience if they try to do something different that they are not known for. It happens a lot but I admire anyone who expands their musically because it just shows the talent they have to “do it all.”
If you had one message you could share with the world right now, what would it be?
VASTIVE: Be good, be kind and don’t forget to touch grass.
RZRKT: It is never the “end” but a new beginning and a whole new opportunity to be a better version of yourself with love, respect, and appreciation.
BAGG Brings The Madness w/ New Single “POINT”

BAGG Brings The Madness w/ New Single “POINT”

Denmark is being well represented in 2024 thanks to a 23-year-old young producer named BAGG. Best known for his gritty basslines and a wide variety of genre production, today he showcases his talent with a high-energy tune that heavily focuses on an infused hybrid blend of trap and dubstep. We’re calling it right now, this is not your typical song that gets played once and you move on to the next one on the playlist. You’re bound to hit the replay button quite a few times and for good reason. Remember the name as we will definitely hear plenty of heaters from this artist project in 2024 no doubt. Now it’s time to take a deeper dive as to what makes this song what we like to call, a certified bop.

Point is BAGG’s 1st single out in 2024, and is a bouncy yet aggressive and energetic tune. It takes elements from hip-hop-inspired trap and is combined with dark heavy dubstep basses. This results in a hypnotic flow that makes it almost impossible for the listener not to get their gunfingers out.” -BAGG

DIVING DEEP W/ BAGG

You’re on your deathbed and you can listen to one last song, which one would it be and why?
Without a doubt ‘Good Things Fall Apart’ by ILLENIUM and Jon Bellion.
This song is just such a masterpiece, and will never get old to me.
You can cry your eyes out to it, you can sing your lungs out to it, and you can dance with your friends all night to it.
It’s perfect for any mood to me.
If you could change one thing about the electronic scene, what would it be and why?
The live scene for electronic music in Denmark is almost non-existent, so I would love to see a change here.
In a broader perspective though, I wouldn’t change much.
I’ve recently started to notice how genres have become less defining for artists, and this makes artists feel much more freedom in what they create, which often results in amazing new art.
I hope audiences continue this trend of having open minds about genres and new styles, because it is beneficial to all communities involved.

Sicari Goes OFF W/ New Single “Hot Lead”

Sicari Goes OFF W/ New Single “Hot Lead”

Sicari is about to put Florida on notice once folks get a chance to listen to the absolute madness that drops today. If you were looking for some heat this week, this new 4 track EP titled “Hitman’s Anthem” will do just the trick for you. We love it when new artist projects emerge from the depths of nowhere and are already causing a ruckus with their releases. This one is no different as we get the honor of premiering HOT LEAD, a single off the newly debuted EP. Now it’s time to take a deeper dive as to what makes this track what we like to call, a certified bop.

“I had so much fun creating my latest track off the EP, Hot Lead. It seamlessly blends melodic synths with the new heavy tearout style, drawing inspiration from a variety of sources. The large cinematic intro was influenced by Hans Zimmer’s Batman film score, and I even recorded my own voice for the first time to use in the pre-drop section.”

You’re on your deathbed and you can listen to one last song, which one would it be and why?
I listen to almost every genre and have thousands of songs in my library so it took me a lot of time to answer this question. When I’m on my deathbed and can only listen to one more song, I would choose “Sunday Song” by Lane 8. This track helped me get through a tough period in my life and it brings me peace every time I listen to it. There are two other songs off the Brightest Lights album titled “Don’t Let Me Go” and “Road” that I love too. I’m lowkey a big fan of artists such as Lane 8, Tin Licker, Rufus Du Sol, Cassian, John Summit, and others. Weirdly, I have such an alter ego. Half of my music taste is aggressive with dubstep, heavy metal, and alternative music, and the other half is more chill and laidback.
If you could change one thing about the electronic scene, what would it be and why?
If I could change one thing about the electronic music scene, it would be to provide more inclusivity among promotion companies, labels, and artists. It’s crucial to work together to build something special for the community. I became a dubstep producer because I wanted people to experience the same feelings I had at my first music festival. I love this community and I’m grateful to be a part of it. I never wanted to waste my life doing something meaningless, and I realized that after graduating from high school. My goal is to create positive relationships and provide unforgettable memories.
If you had one message you could share with the world right now, what would it be?
If you had one message you could share with the world right now, what would it be?
If I could deliver one message to the world right now, it would be to find something to do that benefits others in some way. Don’t be afraid to take risks, fail, and live paycheck to paycheck (speaking for myself here). It’s okay to cry and be disappointed if things don’t work out the way you planned. Even if you don’t achieve your goals, the experience will help shape you as a person. I firmly believe that if you keep striving for success, you’ll eventually achieve it. So don’t give up!
