Today is a good day for all my fellow friends and family who eat, sleep, and live listening to bass music on the daily. We have a new player in the game, Maluka, a bass music producer and DJ from Westchester, New York. “Snuff Box” makes its introductory debut release as the first project from Maluka. An individual who has now set his mind and focus on becoming one of the best, today we get a taste of what’s to come, and boy is it big. This track ushers in users towards an otherworldly auditory journey through space and time for a total of almost seven minutes. The more you listen to it, the more you start to appreciate the effort it took to formulate such a unique composition of electronic music. Now its time to take a deeper dive as to what makes this song what we like to call, a certified bop.

“I’m Maluka. I make Weird, Psychedelic-ish, Norwegian Metal Inspired, Left Field Festival Bass, EDM Music for Goth Wooks. That’s a genre now. You gotta say the whole thing. It’s kinda like IDM but less pretentious with more headbanger friendly moments.”

DIVING DEEP W/ MALUKA

1 . After taking such a long hiatus , what does it mean to you to finally be back and release new music out there?
It means a lot. It feels good to be motivated and goal oriented again. There was definitely a point where I questioned if I even wanted to start building a new brand, but I’m glad I did. I’ve learned a lot this passed year, and I feel like I have a lot more to offer than I ever have before.
2. Start fresh with a new alias is always a lot of fun but hardwork, what can we expect from this new project?
I’m working on tons of content to keep people engaged. Obviously a bunch of music. Unfortunately music isn’t enough to build a strong brand. I currently have weekly blog posts scheduled every Wednesday on my website. MalukaSounds.com for a shameless plug. This next month is all about VST plugins. I analyze and review them; with the focus centered around teaching people all about how the plugins work. For those that subscribe to my mailing list, I’m going to have free sample pack giveaways. And I’m also learning how to edit video, so I can start doing some proper tutorials on YouTube.
3. If you could give your younger self some advice you wish you had known before getting into music, what would that be and why?
My advice to younger me would be to take it slow and focus on yourself. Just because you see kids with no experience blow up doesn’t mean that you need to blow up with little to no experience. DJing is easy. Making unique art that you can connect with, even after listening for hundreds of hours, is extremely hard. And yeah you may be more experienced than some of your friends, but you ain’t shit out in the bigger ocean, so put that ego away and focus on the work.
