1. How did you decide to get into music? Was there a certain event in your childhood/life that made you stop and realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?
“Music has been a significant part of my life since I was a child, from family and friends to education. Exposure and performance in Jazz & Symphonic orchestras during my childhood, listening to music influenced by New Orleans’ ‘Disco Donnie-era’ rave culture, and being exposed to Rap, Hip-hop, and Bounce music during all of my adolescent years sparked my unique interest in production and the music industry. However, it wasn’t until I started college during the ‘Golden Age of EDM’ that I found my passion for Producing and Djing. It was there I knew the path I wanted to take.”
2. It can be very hard sometimes to separate music from day-to-day life when it’s a huge part of your life. How do you personally separate your artist life from your everyday life, and have you faced any challenges doing so?
“Agreed. I’m certified in Information Technology and have a career during the day in that sector, so using my time wisely to achieve my music business goals is crucial. It can be a challenging, balancing act, but I prioritize self-care through meditation, fitness, and constant personal growth. I also believe in giving back and helping others, especially in music. I also used to teach fellow classmates back in college at Loyola how to use digital audio workstations to record and produce, which was a rewarding experience; being able to teach and grow with my peers.”
3. As an artist, you can experience a number of roadblocks along the way to achieving your goals. What motivates you to continue to be creative and make music even when times get tough?
“My motivation to continue making music, even during tough times, comes from my belief in hard work and perseverance. I never give up and always strive to improve, and there is where I find inspiration. I believe that the true test of one’s character comes when faced with the desire to give up, but instead, one chooses to keep working towards their goals with determination and persistence. This is where I have experienced my most significant breakthroughs as an entrepreneur.”
4. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned since you started making music? Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring producers hoping to follow in your footsteps?
“The biggest lesson I’ve learned is the importance of being authentic and making a positive impact on your culture. Setting an example by the embodiment of your ideals made manifest is paramount to any creative, I feel. Networking with like-minded individuals and treating others with respect and kindness are also crucial to your growth as an artist too. To aspiring creatives, I would say believe in yourself, never give up on your dreams, and always stay true to who you are and your INNER-SOUND!”
