1. How did you decide to get into music? Was there a certain event in your childhood/life that made you stop and realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

“Since I was a young kid, I’ve always had a love for music, especially live shows. I went to my first music festival, Bonnaroo, when I was just 18 with a group of friends to celebrate graduating high school. I was so inspired by so many of the artists I saw that year that I bought my first DJ controller the day I got home. I would spin as more of a hobby for a long time and then once I graduated college, I decided to pursue the dream more seriously.” -CHOZEN

“I started band at school in the sixth grade playing alto saxophone and fell in love with the challenge of learning music and how to channel my expression through an instrument. Already being a huge fan of hip-hop and beat makers, it was only right that I tackle learning how to cook beats next!” -MVLIK HD

2. What has been a personal career struggle that you have battled with the most and how has it helped mold your character for the better good presently?

“One of the biggest struggles for me has been balancing a full time job and my music passion. I work pretty full days so trying to find time to dedicate to music can be a bit of a struggle. The biggest lesson that it’s taught me is to prioritize things that mean the most to you. There have been countless times where I’ve given up going out with friends to stay in and work on my craft. I think time management and dedication are huge for anyone getting into the industry. There are going to be distractions everywhere so it’s important to remember to do the right things and try to be a genuine and kind person to anyone you interact with.” -CHOZEN

“Self criticism is something I struggle with every day. I’m my own biggest critic and I sometimes hold myself back because I think I could do better. This year I’ve let go of a lot of fears in that realm and am really going for it with releasing tunes and putting myself out there.” -MVLIK HD

3. What has been one of the most memorable career achievements so far as an artist and how did that impact you moving forward?

“In September I had the chance to play at Imagine Music Festival. When I was first getting into the bass scene, I was an ambassador for Imagine for about five years before getting the chance to play it, it was such a full circle moment. I also helped put on a renegade stage at the festival with a group of about 20 or so amazing individuals. We never expected how amazing it would turn out… we had artists like Peekaboo, G-Rex, Sully, Champagne Drip, Luzcid, Ravenscoon, Blunts and Blondes, Lizzy Jane, and so many more amazing artists bless the stage. That’s something I will never ever forget. I plan to continue throwing shows throughout the years, I like working on that side of the industry as well.” -CHOZEN

“The best part of this whole thing for me is the people for sure. Whether it’s meeting other talented, dedicated artists, or getting to blast out original music in a room full of strangers. Meeting genuine people and getting to connect through music keeps me going for sure!” -MVLIK HD

4. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned since you started making music? Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring producers hoping to follow in your footsteps?

“Never give up. The music industry is an absolute grind. For some people, they will blow up after one song, for others it might take an entire decade. Don’t compare yourself to others, just make sure YOU are progressing from year to year. The other huge piece especially for people just getting started is networking. Go out and meet as many people as you can. If you don’t like going out, use social media to connect with other artists and learn from each other!” -CHOZEN

“At the end of the day we’re all just people and every person deserves respect and kindness. As far as I think my talent has gotten me musically, I’d argue that leading with a kind heart has gotten me further every time!” -MVLIK HD
