Bromosapien Comes Out Swinging w/ New High Energy EP Zooted

Bromosapien Comes Out Swinging w/ New High Energy EP Zooted

“Making it” in the bass scene nowadays seems to become harder and harder due to the constant influx of talent. This isn’t difficult at all, though, for the artist we have for you today.  One of our favorite freeform bass producers here at Headbang Society, Bromosapien, has blessed all of our eardrums on this lovely Friday with the release of his newest heavy hitting EP entitled Zooted. This massive 5 track EP is packed with high energy stompers, and even features a stellar collaboration with producer Engix. Our premiere track today of this compilation, “Sacred Soundwaves” is definitely not one to sleep on. Its precise combination of uptempo melodies and an absolutely crushing bassline make this track an absolute heater of a tune that will surely have you on the dancefloor. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Sacred Soundwaves’ and the rest of the Zooted EP, a certified bop.

“This track has been a staple in my sets for the past year & is actually the first tune that was made in this project. This song really focuses on the drums & percussion, being that I recorded a lot of my own live drums to add a whole new flavor of production. With absolutely roaring basses & quick bits of neuro juice, this tune is a hefty force on the dance floor.”

DIVING DEEP W/ BROMOSAPIEN

  1. What kind of impact do you wish to have on the scene 1-2 years from now with your project?

I hope to bring people in the scene (& the world in general) together! I also hope I can introduce the scene to the artists I love most, so if I’m able to have the platform, I want to be able to educate on all the styles and sounds I love (Both EDM & Non EDM).

  1. If there was one thing you could change for the betterment of society, what would it be and why?

If I could change anything in society I would MOST CERTAINLY do anything to stop discrimination, judgement, & hierarchy overpowerment. The world is already a hard enough place to live in without having people telling you what you should be doing, and spewing an agenda that is very clearly against others. I’ve ALWAYS been about freedom of expression & doing whatever your heart desires as long as you’re not harming anyone else or yourself. The world can be a beautiful place and it is our duty as human beings to keep it that way & allow others to live as they please in harmony.

DIVING DEEP W/ MEDUSO

1. Who/what has been the biggest inspiration for the MEDUSO project and why?
This is a tough one because I really do try to pull inspiration from across different areas, whether it’d be from a musician, fine artist, sculptor, Vfx artists, a movie — it really does change from project to project as Meduso evolves.
But if I had to choose right now, I’d honestly say Svdden Death’s Voyd is one of my greatest inspirations for the project. Not only do I really admired his originality, storytelling, and intention behind everything he works on, but the fact that he has been able to create this whole universe that feels very cinematic is insanely cool to me. It has left me really inspired to work and find an authentic way for me to incorporate design, themes, and storytelling into all aspects of the Meduso project.
2. What kind of goals do you wish to have achieved by 5 years from now and for what benefit?
In five years the Meduso project will have expanded across a few different mediums other than just being more music centric as it is today. The vision is to be able to create multi-sensorial experiences (both physically and digitally) that are all very storytelling centric. Id also love to bring this storytelling on tour, festival stages, warehouses. Honestly, the more abstract the better.

I’m really just trying to build experiences that people can dive into and feel like they’re a part of. Every experience that has left me the most inspired and just happy to be alive has come from something that makes me go, “holy shit, I’m so thankful to be here now, to experience___”. It’s that perplexed, inspired feeling that I love chasing and hope for the observer to experience through the lens of the Meduso Project.

DIVING DEEP W/ SUPER AVE.

What has been the most memorable experience thus far an artist still on the fast rise within the bass scene?
It’s going to sound cliche, but it’s meeting and interacting with so many good people, fans, artists etc. Having all of the support translate into the energy and love that I’m getting makes all of the time and effort worth it
It’s hard to gauge how your  music is having an impact and it’s feels amazing to feel the response
What/who inspires you keep moving forward not only as an artist but as a person in general and why?
It’s never one person, its the music, it’s the fans, it’s the scene, it’s the culture. Everything I put out is to the elevate the scene and the culture while pushing the sound that we crave for. The energy and love I’m getting is more than enough inspiration

This 8-track compilation being released by our friends over at  Street Ritual, combines glitch hop, dubstep and even halftime dnb together into an incredible auditory experience. The track we have for you today, “RINSE”, creates an incredible up tempo atmosphere, heavy hitting basslines and an ear catching melody that curates a space like atmosphere unlike we’ve heard before. This bouncy extraterrestrial tune is definitely not one you should miss. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “RINSE” and the rest of the Precursor EP, a certified bop.

“This EP is a collection of tunes that I’ve been working on since 2020. Some of them are as recent as 5 months old though. Initially I had 4 tracks that I thought was going to be an EP. After I wrote Rinse, I felt it the EP should be expanded and become more well rounded. Through the process of finalizing the release, I felt a change in the way I was thinking about making music. To me, this EP is the precursor to the next phase of my artistic journey! “

DIVING DEEP W/ DEEZ

  1. If there was an artist you had the chance to collaborate with, who would it be and why?

I don’t like to put anyone on a pedestal but if I had to choose someone, I think it would be Mefjus. His production skill is next level and I think what he chooses to create with that skill is amazing. His music resonates a lot with me and in general he seems like a cool person. We share a lot of common interests outside of making music and I wonder if those interests are part of why his music clicks with me. I would be very curious to see what techniques he uses and also what creative decisions would be made at various stages.

  1. If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approach would have done differently?

I think the most important thing I’ve learned is that you should only pursue being an artist for the sole reason that you love making art. There are so many things that can quickly become stressful or frustrating being an artist but most of those emotions stem from skewed priorities (or ego). Many up and coming artists (myself included) experience a sense of what they have earned or is deserved. Naturally after spending thousands of hours doing something, it feels right that you should get certain opportunities. As many find out, opportunities aren’t distributed based on how good or deserving you are. This is one of the major factors of artist burnout in my opinion. Not only getting frustrated that X, Y or Z didn’t happen to you, but also thinking that spending more hours a day grinding will surely bring in those opportunities. At the end of the day, if you have fun making music, what comes from that is far less relevant. If I make a tune, it matters way more to me how much I enjoyed it and learned from it than how many plays it got or what opportunities it brought me. Trying to become an artist because you think it’ll make you happy, popular, cool etc will lead to disappointment. This isn’t to say that if you love making music everything will be stress free. There is still so much stuff involved with being an artist that has nothing to do with making music but I think getting your priorities straight and not worrying about other people is key!

SHLUMP Delivers Hallucinogenic Single ‘Psychedelic Explorer’ via WAKAAN

SHLUMP Delivers Hallucinogenic Single ‘Psychedelic Explorer’ via WAKAAN

Your favorite freeform electronic music label is back once again to deliver the best the bass scene has to offer to the limelight of the everyday basshead. Wakaan champion SHLUMP , is here to ring the memories of those who were here from the early days of when the whole label project first started from. A reminder that has helped solidify WAKAAN and those who release within the project why their sound style and approach continues to pave the way for those who will come after. Today’s premiere is a showcase of SHLUMP’s ability to demonstrate just that. A soothing deep state of mind journey through the ever expanding world of psychedelic bass music. Now it’s time to take a deeper dive as to what makes this new release what we like to call , a certified bop.

“I wrote Psychedelic Explorer during a time when I started experimenting with microdosing psilocybin. I have been a psychedelic explorer for many years but taking microdoses was a new experience for me. I wrote a series of tunes that reflect what I was feeling and going through at that time. More of a melodic laid back feel to this one. There was a sense of novelty to writing something with a chill rhythm and melodic atmosphere. I sampled a few minor vocal clips from a lecture about psychedelics that I felt were appropriate. “What it does is break down boundaries” is referring to the boundary of our ego or identity that seems to separate reality. There is a sense of merging with a large energy of universe that I feel really reflects the psychedelic experience.” -Shlump

DIVING DEEP W/ SHLUMP

If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approach would you have done differently?

I am happy with the process I went through in my early days even if I released cringeworthy tracks. I do wish I honed in on my art and merch aesthetic sooner. I feel like I really didn’t understand the importance of graphics and artwork representing my vision and having a high caliber on their own.

What has been the biggest difference you’ve noticed when first starting off as an artist vs now after experience playing events , doing releases etc?

The biggest difference is the scene itself. I started off like ten + years ago in the height of the west coast bass music scene. I was playing small parties and renegade type situations. It’s such a massive difference with the huge, expensive festivals and events I am now playing. The electronic music scene has grown so much it’s almost morphed into a new creature.

Moon Lotus X Eyetrip Make Waves w/ New The Moontrip EP

Come take a trip to the vast reaches of outer space with insanely talented producers Moon Lotus and Eyetrip as they bring forth their newest EP, The Moontrip. Combining their musical sound to bring forth a combination of nostalgia fueled melodic bass music, these 4 tunes carry the right amount of heavy bass lines with celestial melodies for an out of this world EP design. The track that we bring you today off this EP, “If Only For A Little While” pushes the boundaries of what we have to to know from both of these artists, combining both sounds into one to guide us on this otherworldly journey. This track not only captures the essence the ethereal vibe the entire EP brings, but its whompy bassline paired expertly with a downtempo soundscape makes for a unique listening experience that you should not be sleeping on. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “If Only For A Little While” and the rest of The Moontrip EP, a certified bop.

Conceptually, this EP tells the story of personal discovery and dealing with the feeling of always ‘yearning for more. It is an EP dedicated to all of those who feel like they are always caught up in the search for ‘home’, but never realizing that home is created within us all along. In many ways, ‘The Moontrip’ represents the path one walks to find one’s own safe haven which at times can be scary as it is beautiful.  We sincerely hope this EP finds you well as you traverse along your own pathways home. Thank you for walking this path alongside us .”

-Moon Lotus & Eyetrip

  1. If you could go back in time and start over given what you have learned in your career so far, what changes and approaches would you have done differently?

Moon Lotus:

There’s a couple of things actually, I wish I would’ve had more confidence from the very beginning and truly learned how to not care about what people think. I think learning to trust that inner vision and bringing your own story to the table is the biggest thing artists need to focus on; the rest is all just noise. Also, choosing to align yourself and your vision with those who share a similar value of the same things will naturally introduce you to the right spaces and places you need to be in. All you need to do is focus on your own path and craft.

Eyetrip:

I would’ve started music way earlier in life. I was always so apprehensive about learning something as daunting as music production, but once I started I knew immediately that this is my passion in life. I always think “Man, what if I would’ve started when I was like 16” and kinda imagine the skills I would have by this stage in my life. I only started producing 2 or so years ago and have learned SO much, its crazy to think how much I would have learned if I was doing this for 10 + years. I guess I’ll be there someday though haha.

  1. Is there a message you would like to portray through your music, and if so, what would it be?

Moon Lotus:

My music has always been about giving back the love that I have received. I think sharing a space of healing and growth amongst my friends and family is my number one priority as a musician. I would not be where I am today without the community around me and this project is built off a foundation of gratitude for all of those who have guided me. Fundamentally, the project tells the story of rebirth through the divine feminine and her intuition, but broadly it is about the journey one takes to grow a ‘lotus’ garden within; A safe-haven from the world around us.

Eyetrip:

I try to add some sort of experience or emotion I feel to every track that I produce as a way to express myself and to put something out there that someone might resonate with. I don’t know if I have a specific message, but I hope people can relate to the storytelling I try to portray in each track. Music is healing and I hope my music can be something that people can use to get them through a tough time or help them find a moment of solace in this crazy world we live in.
