Nestled beneath the ancient oaks of the Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park, Hulaween 2024 reaffirmed its reputation as a beacon of artistic and musical excellence. The festival has always been more than just music. It is a living, breathing ecosystem where soundscapes, visual art, and community intersect. This year, the experience felt nothing short of transcendent, with several elements standing out as the heart and soul of this beloved gathering.

1. The DEF Off Limits Stage

The DEF Off Limits stage solidified its reputation as a haven for forward-thinking music lovers. This year, it delivered a masterclass in music, offering a lineup that pushed the limits of sound and genre. Among the highlights was the electric Eazybaked b2b Of The Trees, a set that felt like a shared fever dream (in the best way possible), weaving intricate basslines with atmospheric melodies.

Know Good brought a refreshing blend of innovation and groove, showcasing an effortlessly smooth yet dynamic performance that had the crowd locked in. Meanwhile, MPH kept the momentum high with an irresistibly infectious energy, blending UK garage influences with a modern flair that made it impossible not to move.

From its cutting-edge production to the unparalleled diversity of its lineup, the DEF stage wasn’t just a stage—it was a testament to the artistry and vision that define Hulaween.

2. Perfect Weather

Florida in late October can be unpredictable, especially after 2 detrimental hurricanes, but this year, the weather felt divinely curated. Daytime brought a comfortable warmth, ideal for exploring Spirit Lake and its countless treasures. As the sun dipped, so did the temperature, transforming the nights into a cool and breezy wonderland. The shift from sunshine to starlit chill enhanced the festival’s charm, while encouraging layered looks and cozy campfire conversations that made the community feel all the more intimate.

3. A Carefully Curated Lineup

Hulaween has built its legacy on genre-defying programming, and this year’s lineup delivered with a scope that felt as vast as the festival grounds themselves. Sublime brought  nostalgia and tracks that had everyone singing along, G Jones pushed the boundaries of electronic experimentation, and Chris Lake ignited the dance floors. Jam bands, funk outfits, and eclectic global acts added texture to the festival, ensuring that no two sets felt remotely alike.

4. Art That Was Both Boundless and Grounding

Art installations have always been a cornerstone of Hulaween’s identity, and 2024 raised the bar yet again. The mural maze was a revelation. The murals that had been crafted by artists from all over brought a special touch to Spirit Lake that fans cherish every year. The projection mapping over the lake might have been the star of the show, with visuals that danced across the water in mesmerizing harmony with the music. Every corner of the festival seemed touched by creativity, from interactive sculptures to fleeting moments of incredible art.

5. Spirit Lake

Spirit Lake, as always, was the soul of Hulaween. By day, its serene beauty offered a counterbalance to the festival’s vibrancy, a space for quiet awe amidst the chaos. By night, it transformed into something otherworldly—a pulsating wonderland of fire spinners, light displays, and installations that felt alive. Wandering through it was like stepping into a lucid dream, where every turn brought a new surprise and a new perspective.

Hulaween: A Testament to Amazing Music and Creativity

What makes Hulaween truly special is its ability to create a sense of unity through diversity. Its eclectic programming, immersive art, and natural beauty combine to form something rare: a festival that feels as personal as it does universal. It’s a place where memories are made in shared glances on the dance floor, in quiet moments by the lake, and in the sheer joy of collective experience.

As we continue to come back to Hulaween every year, we develop deeper relationships with not only the ones we love, but the new faces we have met along the way. There is truly nothing like Suwannee’s Hulaween, so if you have not had the chance to go, this is one to add to the bucket list. Here’s to another year of brilliance in the swamps of Suwannee. Festival season has commenced and our favorite artists have come out to play; debuting banger after banger one set at a time and running the circuit nonstop. Of the festivals to gain notoriety as of late, Fam Fest, held at Freedom Field in Harmony Maine from June 6th-9th, has quickly caught the eye of eager festival attendees looking to get their fix of live music. Leaning towards a heavy focus on bass, the festival boasts a stacked lineup for its 2024 return that has something in store for bass music fans of all sub-genres. 

Featuring widely acclaimed artists like Eazybaked, G-Space, and Potions, as well as an incredibly stacked undercard, Fam Fest is sure to be nothing short of a good time and is shaping up to be one for the books. If you’re a fan of world-class music and thrilling car showcases, GRIDLIFE Midwest 2024 was cooked up specifically just for you. They are the leading pioneer in premiere motorsports music festivals in all of America. GRIDLIFE returns this upcoming June 7th-9th to their longtime home of Gingerman Raceway currently located in South Haven, Michigan. We had the privilege of sitting down with the lovely Maddy O’Neal to dive deep into the magic behind her set at ULTRA Music Festival and her latest track, “Matcha.” With her infectious energy and undeniable talent, Maddy captivated audiences and left an indelible mark on the festival stage. 

As the beats from her performance continued to echo through the festival grounds, Maddy shared insights into the creative process behind her set, which seamlessly blended electronic, hip-hop, and soulful sounds. With infectious energy and a genuine passion for her craft, Maddy illuminated the inspiration behind her newest track with COFRESI titled “Matcha,” which is a vibrant and dynamic track that captivates listeners with its pulsating rhythm and innovative production. As the sun set on another unforgettable day at ULTRA, it was clear that Maddy O’Neal’s starpower is only continuing to rise, and I can’t wait to see where her talent takes her next.

Every year, Suwannee’s Hulaween exceeds our expectations, creating a whimsical weekend full of great music, laughter and lasting memories. With this year being the tenth anniversary of the festival, there were surprises around every corner that shaped the event into the incredible time it was. We’ve put together a list of our top five favorite experiences at Hulaween to reflect on it. There is a reason why so many festival attendees from around the world have Hulaween as their must to go to festival every year. It’s safe to say that we might be joining this crew of special individuals as well.

1. Spirit Lake – This one was a no brainer for us. Spirit Lake is always an iconic part of the festival, but this year was different. Instead of half of the lake being open, festival goers were able to walk around the entire lake and see the designs from every angle. There were plenty of installations as well as hands-on activations that people were able to immerse themselves in. One of my favorites was the grounding station where you were able to relax and really connect with the earth and music around you.

2. Impeccable Camping Weather – Festivals in Florida are always questionable when it comes to the weather, but this weekend’s weather was one for the books. With highs in the low 80’s and lows in the 50’s, it created the perfect fall vibe. It was comfortable enough to where you needed a hoodie at night, but could still wear your favorite Halloween costume during the day without dripping in sweat. 

3. Unique Costumes – The attendees this year were creative to say the least when it came to their costumes. Hulaween is the perfect place to express your creativity, and what better way to do that than with a Halloween costume! We saw costumes of all different shapes and sizes, ranging from Disney characters, to 70’s themed, to Sirens and Cleopatra we saw it all!

4. Music – What would Hulaween be without the music? We were truly spoiled this weekend with the lineup we were given. Personally, Lab Group and Pretty Lights might have taken the cake for best sets of the weekend, but that’s not to say artists like Elderbrook, Eprom and Mt. Joy weren’t following very closely after. The diversity of the Hulaween lineup every year is something so special that makes the festival truly remarkable. 

5. Food – Last, but most definitely not least, the food at Hulaween was easily one of our favorite parts. Vendors like the Grilled Cheese Incident, Space Fruit, Island noodles and more kept our bellies full all weekend so we were able to continue dancing! Hulaween wouldn’t be the same without the unique food and drinks!
