1. What are you most excited about playing at North Coast Music Festival?

This is my first time ever playing North Coast, and I’ve heard wonderful things about it! As I am making a transition into more of a live-based set, North Coast is one of the first festivals to get a taste of the future of Lizzy Jane! A few of my singles from my EP What is Silence will be released by North Coast and I really can’t wait for everyone to hear them so they can sing along and dance the day away. The lineup for Saturday is freaking massive, and I can’t wait to start the day off with tons of energy.

2. What goes into preparing for bigger sets at these types of events?

Finishing up live edits for me to be able to sing and be more engaging to the crowd is my absolutely favorite when prepping for big festival sets. Making bootlegs of my favorite tracks, finishing up new music, and intertwining live element sections on top of multiple parts of my sets. This summer I’ve been taking a ton of acapella vocals of super popular songs, singing them on my own, and pairing them with well-known electronic tracks, and it really sets up the performance for unique moments with the crowd 🙂 

3. What can attendees expect from your set at North Coast Music Festival?

Tons of new music from the last year of writing and the EP, more singing than ever before and LOTS of energy…. buttt most of all, it’s making sure that when I have the stage, everyone is having the best time, staying safe and watching out for one another.

Honestly, Dirt Monkey and I have been doing big b2b sets for years. We’re close friends and have similar tastes and mixing styles so honestly, we just have a 5-minute pow-wow before the set about the first 2 songs and then just call out BPM and key changes on the fly. – SubDocta

Seeing some of our favorite bass artists combine their producing skills with other instrumentalists is always a treat, and boy do we have one for you today folks! Producer Marvel Years has combined his unique sound with a multi instrumental approach to bring forth his latest Pink Floyd tribute EP, Have A Cigar. With a bluesy soundscape, this EP not only features a band of extremely talented instrumentalists, but also Marvel Years own “bass fueled rendition ” that brings a vibrant, upbeat electronic take on the original track. 1. What has been one of the most memorable career achievements so far as an artist, and how does that impact you moving forward?

Playing shows around the world like Australia and Croatia are some of the most memorable experiences of my career. Traveling has always been important to me, and I realized how incredible it was that my music was reaching people halfway around the world. Getting to experience the different cultures and music tastes on my visits opened my mind to the possibilities I could bring to the table as a musician.

2. Who/what are the biggest inspirations in the music you create today?

Recently I’ve been gravitating towards artists who are blending the old with the new. The old school soul with the electronic sounds of our time. Artists like FKJ, Two Feet, Labyrinth, Ratatat, etc. have been some of the most impactful artists as of late in regards to the new music I’m creating.
