Diving Deep w/ AZASSIN

1. The Origins EP is 3 tracks of absolute madness! What elements and inspirations did you have in mind when writing this EP?

The inspiration I had in mind for writing this EP is the wave of the dubstep scene right now. RZRKT had given me lots of tips and tricks in our lessons and gave me a good push to start making more sustain-heavy tracks. This EP is really me starting to hone my craft in dubstep and work on my sound more and you’ll see that from my old tracks to this EP.

2. Two of the 3 tracks on this EP were collaborations with artists MACH and CLSFYD. What was it like putting these collaborations together for the EP?

Putting these collaborations for this EP together was a meant-to-be situation. Mach is my best friend and we have been learning music together for the past 3 years. We’ve shown each other everything we know and went to the same college to get our associates in sound engineering. So it’s been a long time coming to finish a track that we both liked and agreed to release. CLSFYD on the other hand will be his first official collab, so I am honored to put music out with him. His production is unreal. I sent him bow to your knees,  he got so inspired and nearly sent it back to me in less than 24 hours with the craziest results.

3. What is your personal favorite track off the EP and why?

My personal favorite track off the EP is Falling. This track is from the first few batches of me making heavier dubstep/trap and I really love the vocals and the switch to the heavier vocals in the buildup. I love the sounds in this track and I always get so conflicted bouncing back and forth between this kind of heavier trap and more dubstep-like sounds. But I make whatever I enjoy and I really enjoyed making this track. It’s a whole vibe to me so it’s definitely my favorite off the EP!

4. Where do you see your project in 1-2 years? What are you doing currently to help reach these goals?

In the next 2 years weirdly I see myself playing festivals like WAKAAN. I love dubstep with all my heart and you will still hear dubstep from me but the feeling I get from writing experimental tunes and listening to it has been life-changing. I am just now starting to make more experimental songs that I feel confident to release and that I love. So I am really excited to see where my project takes me with this shift.

5. What’s next for the AZASSIN project? What do you have planned that fans have to look forward to?

For all my fans and friends and anyone reading this, what’s next for my project is the best experimental tunes I have been working on. Expect a really big collab and a single from me very soon.  Even possibly on some really well-known labels.
