Buzz Junior Makes Waves w/ New Track “Grills” ft. Gallium

Buzz Junior Makes Waves w/ New Track “Grills” ft. Gallium

In the ever-growing electronic scene, there are so many artists providing unique and entrancing sound experiences. With what seems like an exponential amount of music being put out daily, being a stand-out amongst the crowd can be a difficult feat to conquer. It seems, however, Nebraska producer and mix master, Buzz Junior, has defied all odds on his ride to the spotlight. Today we have the absolute pleasure of teaming up with Gravitas Records to bring forth Buzz Junior’s latest heater of a release with heavy-hitting bass artist Gallium. In the wake of their forthcoming EP, their newest collab “Grills” is not something you want to be sleeping on. With its scratch synths, thundering bassline, and overall contagious energy, this track is an absolute stomper from start to finish. A team-up such as this should definitely be illegal considering how nasty the results are. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Grills”, a certified bop.

“Gallium was staying with me while traveling and I played him my new EP that had an early version of ‘Grills’.  We started talking about it and thought his touch on that song might really set it off so I sent him the stems and was blown away by what he did with it.” – Buzz Junior

1. How did you decide to get into music? Was there a certain event in your childhood/life that made you stop and realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

My high school had a guitar class so I was able to learn from some really good players and have some fun musical experiences that made me want to pursue a career but I didn’t get into producing electronic music until a few years after that when I first heard Gramatik, Griz, Pretty Lights and Glitch Mob.

2. As an artist, you can experience a number of road blocks along the way to achieving your goals. What motivates you to continue to be creative and make music even when times get tough?

I enjoy the process of making music and I genuinely have fun learning about synths and techniques so if I’m not feeling super inspired I like to experiment with something different or learn a new skill and a lot of times it will lead to a new idea. Also I like to partake in the Partica Artist Group weekly beat cyphers as much as I can. Making a new idea from scratch in 30 minutes with immediate feedback from peers is always a good way to get past a creative road block.

3. If there was one thing you could change for the betterment of society, what would it be and why?

Like one general change for all of society I’d say PLEASE can we just stop going to war. One change for my own country I’d say could we please get free healthcare for everyone.

4. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned since you started making music? Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring producers hoping to follow in your footsteps?

There is power in saying no.  Words of wisdom: Find a positive group of friends that you want to root for and that are rooting for you.
Singe Disrupts Reality w/ New Track “Mirage”

Singe Disrupts Reality w/ New Track “Mirage”

The best thing about deep dubstep is its wide range of sounds created by a vast sea of artists each and every day. With tons of unique tracks in the electronic scene, one artist has been at the forefront of this subgenre, paving his way to the spotlight. Singe has become known far and wide for his absolute heaters, and his latest track “Mirage” that we have the pleasure of premiering today definitely upholds this title. With its deep bouncing bass line and simple but electric melodies, this track catches listeners right from the first measure. There is no doubt that Singe is on the rise in the deep dubstep world, so do not sleep on this track. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Mirage”, a certified bop.

“I started these songs with the idea to expand on the excellent niche of southwestern desert style dubstep out there. Mirage began with a desire to make the most stripped back dub I could muster, while still having all the proper vibes and desert flair.”

1. How did you decide to get into music? Was there a certain event in your childhood/life that made you stop and realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

Music has always been there, I can’t say I ever decided this path so much as it chose itself for me. Funny maybe, if I would point to any event that set me on this path it was definitely getting my first MP3 player. Once I got that the music never stopped.

2. It can be very hard sometimes separating music from day to day life when it’s a huge part of your life. How do you personally separate your artist life from your everyday life, and have you faced any challenges doing so?

Honestly it’s never even occurred to me that they could be separated. Artist life is everyday life.

3. If there was one thing you could change for the betterment of society, what would it be and why?

Guess I’d get the AI bots to start doing our regular jobs so we as humans can get back to art and life.

4. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned since you started making music? Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring producers hoping to follow in your footsteps?

Probably learning to use what you have is often more valuable than getting something you think you need. And my biggest bit of advice would be collab and work with as many folks as you can. I’ve learned just about as much from working with friends as I did going to school for all this.

1. What are you most excited about playing at Gem & Jam ?

Recently, I feel like I am living inside the hopes and dreams of my younger self, and this festival is a big part of that. Seeing “Dredlok” on the same lineup as some of the first acts I ever saw live is mind-blowing. Those experiences are some of the best memories I have, and I feel extremely lucky to have my music be a part of that for so many people

2. What goes into preparing for bigger sets at these types of events?

A lot of time and energy goes into every set whether it’s a major festival or a small underground show. For this type of event, I take into account the entire lineup to decide what kind of vibe I want to create for the expected crowd. I keep track of which songs I’ve played before in every location to keep things fresh when I return, but this is my first time in Arizona so everything I’ve ever made is on the table.

3. What can attendees expect from your set at Gem & Jam Festival?

All original music with some remixes, live sampling, electric ukulele, digital saxophone, singing and a lot of energy. I’ve found that people generally like to hear things that they recognize, but also want to be surprised by something new. Combining samples and acapellas from my favorite artists with my original music is how I go about that. The live element makes the whole thing even more intimate because I am physically creating those sounds in a different way every time.

4. Outside of your set, what are you most excited to experience while at the festival?

Going to events like this is what inspired me to become a musician. I’m looking forward to wandering around in a new environment, discovering new artists, listening to some of my long-time favorites, and dancing my butt off while knowing that I get to contribute to the energy of the festival. I haven’t seen Haywyre since I got into live shows many years back, so I am especially excited for that set.

DIVING DEEP W/ ZEN SELEKTA

1. What are you most excited about playing at Gem & Jam Festival?

Gem & Jam prides themselves in being more than a music festival and I’ve heard
wonderful things about the astounding art installations and live performers. My
favorite types of events are those that celebrate and put all art forms on a
pedestal. The festival is centered around the annual Tucson Gem, Mineral &
Fossil Showcase and I can’t wait to see some of nature’s beauties on display and
experience this unique theme. In addition, I love the diversity of the line up and
the marriage between live and electronic music. I am looking forward to
immersing myself in the art displays, making new connections and taking some
inspiration home with me.

2. What goes into preparing for bigger sets at these types of events?
I put the same level of effort into all of my sets — no matter if it is a 200 cap
venue or a huge music festival. I start by visualizing my performance and the
energy I want to give off. From there, I begin to create my playlist with this vision
in mind. Lots of experimentation and plenty of Yerba Mate later, I have my set
mapped out. It then becomes a matter of practicing the material and keeping up
with my mindfulness practices and daily routines to keep my head in the game
and have me feeling my best for this important performance.

3. What can attendees expect from your set at Gem & Jam Festival?
A passionate, engaging and healing experience. I leave everything I have on
stage, putting my whole being into what I do. When I am on stage expressing
myself, I am at my happiest and the audience experience will reflect that.

4. What’s next for your project? What plans do you have in the near future that you hope to accomplish as Zen Selekta?

For my next body of work, I plan to collaborate with musicians and vocalists. My
sound is marked by ethnic and emotive instrumental melodies layered with tribal
percussion and deep bass lines. Currently, I use VSTs and sample libraries to
create these melodies and it is difficult to emulate the human feel and sound that
comes from a live performance. Working with musicians will allow me to achieve
this sound and offer me more creative flexibility. I am passionate about combining
electronic music and live instrumentation and am inspired by artists like Bonobo,
Thievery Corporation, and Emancipator that do a wonderful job at this. A live
aspect can add an extra layer of excitement and intimacy to the performance and
my goal is to offer both “live” and “DJ” sets.

SAGZ Gets Wonky w/ New Track “Blubber”

SAGZ Gets Wonky w/ New Track “Blubber”

Rising to the forefront of the elecetronic bass scene, there seems to be a number of artists trying to gain their time in the spotlight. One of these incredible artists making waves right now is none other than bass producer extraordinaire, SAGZ, who has come out swinging with the release of his latest track, “Blubber”. This track is not one to sleep on with its bouncing bass lines, vibrant wubby synths, and infectious melodies. This track is a stomper from start to finish, captivating listeners from the very first measure. We are definitely going to be blasting this one for the foreseeable future. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Blubber”, a certified bop.

“Blubber is one of my favorite tracks I’ve ever made because of the textures that layers the bassline. When I started the song, the flow just came to me and the song wrote itself. The inspiration came from when I heard a track from Dave Tipper, when he performed at Tipper and Friends.”

Diving Deep w/ SAGZ

1. How did you decide to get into music? Was there a certain event in your childhood/life that made you stop and realize that you wanted to pursue a career in music?

I played piano on and off most of my life starting at the age of 7. I was in choir for 4 years of high school including an acapella group. Music has always been my getaway. Electric Forest 2016, watching Ganja White Night play really inspired me to become a producer/ DJ.

2. You definitely have a very unique name for your project. Does the name have a specific meaning or derived from something in your life? Is there a story fans might not know about how you came to this name for your project?

My Korean name is Sangmin Lee. From that, SAGZ became a nickname.

 3. You live, breathe and eat bass music. Do you listen to anything else when you are away from everything? What would your top 5 non bass artists be? Top 5 bass artists?

I mostly listen to bass music in my free time. I sometimes take breaks from producing bass music and produce hip hop because it helps me not to overthink and keep it simple. I listen to hip hop and my top favorite artists include Lil Baby, Shoreline Mafia, Mac Miller, Rae Sremmurd, 21 Savage.Top bass artists include Tipper, Vctre, Molokai, Resonant Language, Vide

4. What has been the biggest lesson you’ve learned since you started making music? Do you have any words of wisdom for aspiring producers hoping to follow in your footsteps?

Biggest lesson I have learned is to not overthink in production. Simplicity is key. Don’t make music for money. Making music is not a competition and to remember everyone has their own journey.
