LSTER Goes Above and Beyond w/ New “Potential” EP

LSTER Goes Above and Beyond w/ New “Potential” EP

There is always something emotional and exciting about experiencing beauty and chaos all at once especially when it comes to bass music. Bringing forth his new EP entitled “Potential”, Michigan producer LSTER has created the combination of these two feelings over a multigenre EP that is not to be missed. Our premiere today “Spatial” is the perfect example of both the polarity as well as the similarity in these two feelings, opening a beautiful world of the intense and the serene in one track. With cascading sounds and an uptempo beat that creates a perfect balance, this track designs a tranquil but upbeat soundscape that leaves us wanting more with each measure. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Spatial” and the rest of the “Potential” EP, a certified bop.

“Spatial is one of those tracks that just came together so effortlessly. It highlights my two favorite things in a tune: beauty and chaos. Those characteristics make for an emotional and powerful listening experience and I hope it makes you feel while tuning in.”

What would you tell your younger self today knowing where you’re at now and what it took to get there?

A piece of advice that I would give to my younger self would simply be to just keep making the music. Keep making the stuff that you enjoy no matter your worries about others perceptions and the skill and opportunities will follow.

If there was an artist you had the chance to collaborate with, who would it be and why?

If I could collaborate with one artist it would have to be Flume. His music has been so influential to my life and I decided to start producing after hearing the 2012 Album titled Flume.

Tek Genesis Makes Ceremonial WAKAAN Debut w/ New “Sapphire Channel” EP

One of our favorite freeform bass labels is back again to showcase the newest addition to their already incredibly stacked roster of talented artists. Australian producer, Tek Genesis, makes his WAKAAN debut today with his absolutely insane genre-fluid EP “Sapphire Channel”. Each of these three tracks showcases a different style, all pulled together cohesively to mark different parts of this artist’s sound journey throughout his music career. Our premiere today “Velocity” is an absolute stomper filled with heavy hitting bassline and  fluctuating tempos that create an incredible cybernetic soundscape that leaves the ear wanting more. We have no doubt that Tek Genesis came out swinging with this debut, and are excited to see more from him as he continues to grow with the WAKAAN family. Let’s take a deeper dive into why we are calling “Velocity” and the rest of the “Sapphire Channel” EP, a certified bop.

‘The Sapphire Channel EP was a project in which I wanted to showcase an expansion of my music production. All the tracks were written over a long course of different periods of my life which showcase various and unique states of thinking. I wrote all of these tracks by myself whilst spending a lot of time in isolation in 2021’ – Tek Genesis

Where do you see yourself in 5 years and what’s your game plan to get there currently?

I’d like to see myself really contributing to switching up the format when it comes to bass music. Also hopefully playing shows overseas! Plan to get there is to keep making music the way I’m doing it and reformatting the process!

Who/what are the biggest inspirations in the music you create today?

In terms of what inspires me I get lots of inspiration from entertainment media (particularly video games & anime). There’s a meticulous level of sound design that goes into these and I admire them for it, I think you can learn a lot from them and apply it to your own production. other artists that inspire me include Leotrix, Echidna, Dossyx, Lunnari, Soulez, JG Dubz and SYZY. All these producers put out amazing music
