Xavage Comes Out “Knockin” Via Circus Records

Xavage Comes Out “Knockin” Via Circus Records

In today’s electronic scene, there is never a shortage of talented artists looking to be the next big thing in the bass music community. One of these standout artist straight out of Southern California, XAVAGE, is an individual who continues to take things to new levels and showcase some absolute bangers. That is exactly what we can see in today’s premiere “Knockin’” off his upcoming Circus Records EP. This track carries that heavy dubstep feel XAVAGE is known for while also switching up the auditory landscape into something new and exciting with each drop. This one definitely will leave listeners wanting more and pressing that replay button over and over. Let’s dive deeper and see what makes this heater what we like to call, a certified bop.

“I released my first EP with Circus Records in 2020 and we have kept a close relationship ever since. As we approached 2022 it only made sense to release my sophomore EP with them. I’m honored to have Circus Records give me a platform to showcase my bouncy trap music even though historically the label is known for bass music. They truly believe in me.”

DIVING DEEP W/ XAVAGE

1. What would you tell your younger self today knowing where you’re at now and what it took to get there?
I’d pour myself a glass of scotch and tell young XAVAGE enjoy what you do and do what you enjoy. Everything else is just noise.. Ohhh and invest in Bitcoin.
But really though, in the modern music era full of “noise” including trends and viralness it can be easy to stray away from what inspired you when you first got into music. Stay true to yourself. I’d then finish by quoting the beginning of Drake – Pound Cake:
“Only real music is going to last. All that other bullshit it here today and gone tomorrow”

2. If there was an artist you had the chance to collaborate with, who would it be and why?
Tyler, The Creator. Why? While the modern era of “Flower Boy” is pretty I need to get Tyler back to his roots of Goblin and Bastard. I would love to produce some dark beats for him. Also, Tyler is one of the most forward thinking artists and I would love to get the opportunity to collaborate with someone as creative as him.

DIVING DEEP W/ NOWFEEL

What would you tell your younger self today knowing where you’re at now and what it took to get there?

“The most important thing to do if youwant to be a better artist is to make art (easy right?). However, if you are one of the many artists who struggle with mental health issues that hinder your ability to stay motivated and focused, then that needs to be addressed first. I know it’s been said a million times but there is no silver bullet to becoming a better musician besides finding ways to stay disciplined and put in the hours to hone your craft. Working on my health has had the most profound effect on my ability to create and it’s something I wish my younger self would have put more attention towards.”

If there was an artist you had the chance to collaborate with, who would it be and why?

“There are so many! Datassette, Tom VR, Lusine… I could go on forever. These days I would love to work with Richard Spaven, one of my all-time favourite drummers, who has such an amazing feel and understanding of D&B and Jungle percussion. It would be amazing to make an IDM-fused Jungle tune with his live drumming leading the way!”

Kermode Dives in w/ New Track “Going Under”

Kermode Dives in w/ New Track “Going Under”

We are back today with another look into some of the incredible talent that has come to the forefront of today’s bass scene. Jeanot Mey is one such individual who is known not only for his innovative sound, but also for intertwining his inspiration from the natural world into his own unique work. His newest track, “Going Under” does exactly this. Each second of this track provides a wave of emotions through different basslines, melodies and vocal samples creating an amazing flow that carries us through. This one definitely plays on your feelings in the best possible way, curating a tranquil and beautifully moving soundscape. Let’s take a dive into what makes today’s selection what we like to call, a certified bop.

“Going Under” is all about the feeling of being overwhelmed by emotions, when the pressure of the world feels like it’s too much. Writing tracks like this are my way of facing off with those feelings.

DIVING DEEP W/ KERMODE

  1. Who/what were your biggest inspirations when creating “Going Under”?

This track was all about creating an atmosphere to get lost in, making vocal swells and echoing effects the core over my usual sound design based music.

What really made this song special for me is the main vocal, which is sampled from my sister’s track “Una Mey – Keep You Close”.

  1. What would you tell your younger self knowing where you’re at now and what it took to get here?

I would tell my younger self to care less about the outcome of goals. Life is unpredictable and doesn’t always go as planned, but the motivation and intention behind my actions is what’s important

Leave Reality Behind w/ Mikayli’s New EP “Lucid Dreaming”

Leave Reality Behind w/ Mikayli’s New EP “Lucid Dreaming”

Have you ever felt like you were in a dream so real that when you woke up the next day you had to pinch yourself to make sure you were really dreaming after all? Well Mikayli’s new EP “Lucid Dreaming” is here to do just that: transport you into a space where the lines between reality and dream state are too blurred to tell the two apart. Each of these three tracks put you in a new mind space in this journey, and then bring you all the way back to the real world. The track we are excited to share with you today, “Clarity”, uses upbeat melodic bass lines to take you from your dreamstate, slowly waking you up with each passing second. This is definitely going to become a fan favorite very quickly for its catchy rhythms and the euphoric feelings it gives as you listen. Come leave reality behind with us and discover why we are calling “Clarity” and the rest of the “Lucid Dreaming” EP a certified bop.

“During a lucid dream, the dreamer gains some amount of control over the dream, its characters, narrative, or environment. This project is intended to bring forth the inherent questions we ask when the world presents us with opportunity. The tracks challenge the listener to imagine what this scoundscape looks and feels like in the confines of their own mind. A three step process, intended to disconnect, find a bit of clarity, and dream lucidly.”

DIVING DEEP W/ MIKAYLI

What’s one artist you’re grateful for that has inspired you to be where you are today and why?

An artist that has truly inspired would have to be Charles The First. I stumbled upon Charles’s music when he played at Webster Hall in February of 2020. I went into this show not knowing what to expect, I had not heard of CTF before and this was for sure a new experience. Hearing Charles’s melodies and chords being incorporated into bass music was like nothing I had heard before. This was beyond inspirational. I was at a point in my music career where I did not want to make heavy bass music anymore, it wasn’t resonating with me the same way it had used to. I was getting ready to quit until I heard Charles The First’s set. I immediately had all these ideas flowing through me, the way his music was composed was so unique and the feelings his songs sent through my body were so new. I remember going home and trying out new tempos and listening to his music over and over. I then discovered Of The Tree’s, Tiedye Ky, and a whole other side of Bass music that filled my void. Thank you Charles.

If there was one thing you could change in the bass scene, what would it be and why?

One thing I would change in the bass scene is the stigma for competition. We should not be working against each other, this only hinders growth, especially within micro communities. We are all artists bringing our ideas of music to fruition. We are all one in the same, regardless of what genre we make, we are all trying to create. There is no competition in my eyes, I am happy to see all of my friends succeeding. We are all growing together and it is a beautiful part of this music culture. Be happy for your friends, lift them up when you can, at the end of the day we are all just computer nerds geeking out on our DAW’s.

Another thing I would change is $5 water bottles at venues, that sh*t is straight robbery and we must petition for change. All love.
